From City of Tybee Island: “Severe thunderstorms are approaching along the coast from the south. The weather sirens were set off to warn of the impending storm only. Please stay off the beaches and out of the water as the lightning passes. Dual red flags are being flown now by Ocean Rescue until the storm passes.”
WSAV is reporting that the National Weather Service confirms a water spout was spotted off the coast of Tybee Island this morning. Tybee Ocean rescue says 2-3 waterspouts were seen near North Beach. Lightning was also a problem off the shore of South Beach.
At this time, weather reports do not indicated the waterspout will make landfall, but it is recommended to avoid the beach until the storm has passed.
