Stevens Family: Shop With A Cop 2024

NewsRadio Savannah and our sponsors The Dewitt Tilton Group and Express Employment introduces you to the Stevens family and their Ronald McDonald House Of The Coastal Empire experience:

NICU life was something our family has never experienced. We’ve seen people post about it and have heard of people using the Ronald McDonald House. Until you’re in a situation where help is needed, you truly don’t understand the impact of organizations such as The Ronald McDonald House. My wife and I went in on Monday, April 8th for a checkup appointment on our identical twin girls. My wife was 32 weeks pregnant and the last thing we thought is that they would be preparing us to bring our beautiful baby girls into this world the next day. The girls were at risk with some health issues, as well as my wife. Delivering early was the safest decision for everyone.
Once born, we were informed that both girls would have to stay in the NICU. The NICU doctors stressed that every baby is different, but they usually tell parents to expect to go home around their due date. For us, this was 2 months away. We immediately started questioning where we would stay, how would we continue working to make sure bills were paid, what about our son who is back at home? For us, home is 3 hours away. I made a Facebook post asking about organizations that would help families with hotels, food and such for parents with children in the hospital. Almost everyone one responded with the Ronald McDonald House. I got in touch with Lizzy and Josh to put in an application and shortly after, we were there.
The Ronald McDonald House was truly God sent for us. We were within walking distance of the hospital, which made seeing our girls the easiest. We especially loved getting HOT cooked meals every night for supper. One thing that I truly appreciate about the Ronald McDonald House is that they were family driven. They welcomed us to bring our little boy to stay anytime we wanted. They provided games, a movie room, and even a little cot for him to sleep on. Lizzy and Josh made sure to check in anytime they saw us and always asked about the girls. They were extremely accommodating when one of the babies was released before the other one. We bonded with other parents that were in the house and made some lifelong friendships. The Ronald McDonald House is truly an organization built for families. I don’t know what we would have done without them.
