Hayley Williams, Garbage Clap Back At Adam Levine's Comment About Bands

Paramore's Hayley Williams and Garbage are clapping back at Adam Levine's declaration that bands are "a dying breed."

Earlier this week, the frontman reminisced about Maroon 5's early days, when "there were still other bands."

"It's funny, when the first Maroon 5 album came out, there were still other bands," he said. "I feel like there aren’t any bands anymore, you know? That’s the thing that makes me kind of sad. There’s no bands anymore, and I feel like they’re a dying breed."

Levine tried to backtrack after his initial comment, adding: "I mean, there still are plenty of bands, and maybe they’re not in the limelight quite as much, or in the pop limelight, but I wish there could be more of those around." But the damage had already been done, and musicians quickly took to Twitter to call him out.

"What are we Adam Levine? CATS?!?!?" Garbage tweeted in response.

Williams also took to Twitter with her own witty response that poked fun of the constant rumors her band called it quits. "adam levine thinks paramore broke up :(" she wrote.

Elsewhere in the interview, Levine revealed that he's introduced his 4- and 3-year-old daughters to old Avril Lavigne records. "You go back and rewatch these old videos and listen to these old songs … that gives you tears. It's crazy, because you don’t remember it in the same way, because you took it for granted. … It was just part of what you had on the radio," the singer reminisced. "There’s some really great songs that I didn’t understand how good they were back then."

Speaking of Lavigne, she's getting back to her pop punk roots with a new album that's expected to drop later this year.
