Chatham Co. police make arrest in shots fired incident at Bethesda Academy

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Chatham County Police Department made a quick arrest Thursday night after a shots fired incident at Bethesda Academy.

According to the Chatham County Police Department, a call came into Chatham County’s 9-1-1 center at 7:07 p.m., saying a man was firing a gun at occupied vehicles in a parking lot of Bethesda Academy on Ferguson Avenue. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a victim and then heard more gunshots. They then spotted and quickly apprehended the suspect within 13 minutes of the 9-1-1 call being placed.

No one was injured as a result of the gunfire.

Chatham County Police arrested 33-year-old Ike Jost. He is charged with six counts of aggravated assault, third degree cruelty to children, criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, and carrying weapons within School Safety Zones.

Detectives say they believe this was a random incident. They do not believe Jost has any ties to Bethesda Academy, or to anyone who was on the premises at the time of the incident.
