WATCH: Ashton Kutcher's emotional anti-sex slave and trafficking testimony on the Hill

Ashton Kutcher testified yesterday at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in Washington, D.C. in a bid to end modern slavery and human sex trafficking.

The hearing kicked off with Senator John McCain joking that Kutcher looked better "in the movies." Kutcher responded with a wide grin and then blew the senator a kiss.

  • The mood soon turned serious though, as Kutcher began to passionately lay out the reason he appeared before the members of the committee.
  • During his testimony, the actor choked back tears, explaining some of his experiences: "I’ve seen video content of a child that’s the same age as mine being raped by an American man that was a sex tourist in Cambodia. This child was so conditioned by her environment that she thought she was engaging in play."
  • He added: "The right to pursue [happiness] is every man’s right. I beg of you that if you give people the right to pursue, what you may find in return is happiness for yourself."
  • Kutcher is the co-founder of Thorn, a non-profit that builds technology to fight the sexual exploitation of children.

  • Allison O’Kelley on writes, "Wow. Ashton's entire speech was worth watching. Very poweful, thought-provoking and highly intelligent. Kudos for his work on this issue. I for one always appreciate when celebrities use their influence, voice and spotlight to do good work. This is very good work."
  • Lisa Hill on writes, "Once again we have another celebrity millionaire, who has lived the majority of his life with in opulence and servants abound to take care of his every need. It's ironic he's demanding change in a world he knows and has limited experience about."
  • Kevin S Daniels on writes, "We need more people to speak up about these issues. If people like Ashton doesn't speak up, who will? The UN doesn't care about these things as they have a political agenda of their own. The UN only acts on these issues when certain people brings things to light and the UN is put under a microscope."
