There's a new Chrome extension called "Nope" that can help you get out of awkward conversations or situations by prompting your phone to ring. After you download the extension and add your phone number, all you have to do is click the "nope" button when you want your phone to ring and then answer it, acting as if you weren't expecting the call.
There's even a voice on the other end telling you what to do. It says: "On the count of three, put your hand to your mouth as if you're hearing bad news." Then it says, "Repeat these words after me in a serious and concerned tone: 'Yes of course I can talk now, what's the matter?'"
The problem with Nope, however, is that you have to be in front of your computer and have to finesse pressing the button so the person talking to you doesn't see you do it. Making it an app instead could be a lot more useful. (Refinery29)
