Peter Frampton calls 'raw' tour a mixture of 'unplugged' and 'storytellers'

Peter Frampton is clearly enjoying his ongoing "Raw" acoustic tour -- with his fourth leg thrilling fans for its scaled back musicality and the chance to spend the evening with the beloved guitar icon. Frampton spoke about the shows to, explaining, "I never thought I would ever talk about doing an acoustic tour, the thought was paralyzing. It's such an enjoyable evening. Basically it's (MTV's) Storytellers meets Unplugged. I choose numbers that everyone knows, some deeper cuts, and a new one here and there. It's a complete journey through my career. . . It's like I'm on the couch for two-and-a-half hours. It's my life story."

Out now is Frampton's latest album, Acoustic Classics. The set features new stripped down versions of favorites from his first five studio sets, including one new tune, called "All Down To Me." Frampton covers key tracks from his early A&M albums including "Fig Tree Bay" "All I Want To Be (Is By Your Side)" and the title track from his 1972 debut Wind Of Change, "Lines On My Face" and "Do You Feel Like We Do?" from 1973's Frampton's Camel, "Sail Away" from 1974's Somethin's Happening, "Show Me The Way" and "Baby, I Love Your Way" from 1975's Frampton, and the title track to 1977's I'm In You.

  • When Frampton, who'll turn 67 later this month, was asked what's driving him these days he said, "I’ve been doing this a long time. I don’t necessarily feel old. I mean, the brain is still working and I feel the same way about my music and everything. I still have the same drive, I haven’t lost that. That would be the time to get out of the business if I don’t care about, say, this new project. Y’know, I could’ve whipped off those 10 songs in a couple days and, stuck ‘em out, y’know? But, y’know, I’m still very, very excited by what I do -- which I’m thrilled about and very lucky to have that drive, I think."
