In Flanders Fields.....In the 6th grade, I fell in love with an old poetry book from the school library called "Silver Pennies". My middle school also had the little book. Throughout those years, I continuously checked out "Silver Pennies" and carried it with me all the time and read the varied poems. One that I fell in love with early on was this one, In Flanders Fields. Of course, decades later, I now have a better understanding of the sacrifices this poem represents.
If you've never read In Flanders Fields, I invite you to read it now. One of the things I've loved about "Silver Pennies" is the intro written for each poem, which you see below.
BTW, I finally got myself a copy of the book from an old Savannah bookshop. It's the 1930 edition (see cover below), but the book was originally published in 1925.
