Disney Removing Wench Auction from 'Pirates of the Caribbean' Ride

Disney is going to be removing the wench auction scene from the iconic "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride at both Disneyland and Disney World. In the new version, the auctioneer will be selling off things like chickens, guns and paintings instead of women.

Kathy Mangum of Walt Disney Imagineering said the red-headed woman who's referred to in the classic line from the scene, "We want the red head!" will still be there, but in a different role. Mangum said, "Given that the redhead has long been a fan favorite, we wanted to keep her as a pivotal part of the story, so we made her a plundering pirate!"

The changes will be made during scheduled refurbishments of the rides next year. (Laughing Place)
