Transformers star Shia Labeouf Tweets Apology for bad behavior!

UPDATE 7/13/2017 - TMZ is reporting that actor Shia Labeouf has been "incredibly professional, well-prepared and nice" on set of the movie he's filming here in Savannah.  That includes before and after his arrest.  Labeouf is here for The Peanut Butter Falcon and is reportedly halfway through filming here.

7/12/2017 7:30pm - Transformers star Shia Labeouf has (finally) apologized for his behavior in Savannah early Saturday morning.  That's when Shia was arrested for public intoxication and then went on a profanity-laced, racist tirade against arresting officers and jail personnel (see videos below).

In his apology, Shia said he believes he's hit bottom and is taking steps to get his addiction under control:   "I am deeply ashamed of my behavior and make no excuses for it.  My outright disrespect for authority is problematic to say the least, and completely destructive to say the worst."

Shia went on to say, "It is a new low. A low I hope is a bottom."

Labouf added, "I have been struggling with addiction publicly for too long, and I am actively taking steps toward securing my sobriety and hope I can be forgiven for my mistakes."

Shia is reportedly still in town filming The Peanut Butter Falcon.  There's no word on whether he'll go to rehab or seek outpatient help.

It's unclear if this statement will affect production ... in other words, whether he's going to rehab.

(I said two days ago that Shia should apologize or go to rehab.)

SAVANNAH, GA - Actor Shia Lebouf was arrested in Savannah's City Market area early Saturday morning.

Lebouf approached a citizen and an SCMPD officer around 4:00 a.m. close to the intersection of Barnard and W. St. Julian Streets, asking for a cigarette.

Lebouf became agitated when he wasn't given a cigarette and began to use profanities and vulgar language near women and children that were present in the area. He was asked to leave the area, which he refused. He began to act aggressively towards the officer.

When the officer attempted to take Lebouf into custody, he ran into a hotel lobby. Lebouf was then taken into custody as his disorderly behavior continued.

He has been charged with public drunkenness, disorderly conduct, and obstruction.

Lebouf reportedly posted his $7,000 dollar bail and was released at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.
