At least it's something. The City of Savannah is offering an up to 20% discount on the new fire fee, but to get it you have to meet certain risk minimization requirements. For example, homeowners with up-to-date fir safety devices, such as smoke alarms and fire extinguishers, will get a 5% discount for each safety device category met.
This is not the low-income solution for the Savannah Fire Fee. The city says they are continuing to work on the hardship program for those who qualify.
You only have between April 15th and June 1st to apply for the discount this year. Get full details of the discounts offered, along with downloading the discount application, at savannahga.gov/firefee.
