A 43-year-old Texas woman capped off her divorce party by blowing up her wedding dress with an explosion that could be felt up to 15 miles away.
Kimberly Santleben-Stiteler's father and brother-in-law came up with the idea of destroying the dress with exploding targets instead of just burning it to mark the end of the 14-year marriage. It was rigged with 20 pounds of an explosive component that's used for firearms training, and then Santleben-Stiteler shot at it, setting off the blast.
The new divorcee said she wanted to burn the dress because it, quote, "represented a lie," and after it was over, said, "It was liberating pulling that trigger."
As for the explosion, Santleben-Stiteler's sister told The Centre Daily Times, "We were all getting messages asking if that was our explosion people were feeling and hearing around the county, up to at least 15 miles away." (Fox News)
