1/22/2019 Congressman Buddy Carter:
Hardworking Americans impacted by the shutdown, like our incredible Coast Guard members I visited today, deserve better. To my colleagues on the other side of the aisle: come to the table, negotiate in good faith, let’s do our job to properly secure the border and finally reopen the government.
I have voted for legislation to provide back pay for workers who are currently furloughed and I have signed on to legislation that provides funding for the Coast Guard and other agencies tasked with our protection. While our hardworking federal employees are not receiving a paycheck, neither should I. I have asked to have my pay withheld during the partial shutdown. If you are a federal employee who needs assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact our Savannah office at 912-352-0101.
