Boatright Family: Shop With A Cop 2022

NewsRadio Savannah and our sponsor The Dewitt Tilton Group introduces you to the Armitage family and their Ronald McDonald House Of The Coastal Empire experience:

“Your unborn baby has an omphalocele, the liver and intestines are developing outside of his belly.” These were the terrifying words we heard at our 20 weeks Anatomy scan appointment. Ompha... what??? At first we didn't know exactly what it all meant, we just knew it wasn’t good. Our sweet baby, the one we prayed for every single night was not growing “healthy”. Scared, is an understatement, we were heartbroken, devastated, sad, disappointed.
The rest of the pregnancy was a roller coaster. We traveled to Savannah (2.5 hrs away) twice a week to monitor the baby’s growth and size of the defect. We were told that he was not growing properly, and that I had to have a c- section at 37 weeks otherwise I could have a stillbirth.
We prayed and believed for a miracle, for God to touch and heal our baby boy in the womb, or through the hands of the surgeon and his medical team once he was here. Our family and church gathered around us with love and support. At 37 weeks our sweet baby boy (Gian) was born via C-section. He was 6 lbs and 19 inches. The happiest day of our lives. Our son had the liver and most of the Intestines out. Oh, but he was PERFECT to us!!!!
Once I was discharged from the hospital We were blessed with a room at Ronald McDonald House. We were thrilled to be walking distance from our son’s NICU stay and not have to drive 5hr each day to be with him. This gave us more quality time with our little blessing. Our bedroom was very clean, comfortable and cozy with everything we needed to make this journey a little easier. Our stay at the RMH was amazing! Wow!!! We were able to focused on our son and not worry about anything else. Our meals were provided for us, oh such delicious meals!
Everyone at RMH was very nice and helpful. They would always ask how our baby was doing! It felt like a home away from home! We were treated with care and compassion! It felt like we were family, part of RMH family!!! We stayed 5 weeks. The RMH made it possible for us to be there for our son while he recovered from 2 surgeries before we could bring him home!
Every time we drive by the RMH on our way to our son’s dr. appointments we say “Thank you God for providing a place for us to stay while we waited on our son to get well.”
We are very grateful to everyone at RMH!
