Paco-Memije Family: Shop With A Cop 2025

NewsRadio Savannah and our sponsors The Dewitt Tilton Group and Primrose Schools introduces you to the Paco-Memije family and their Ronald McDonald House Of The Coastal Empire experience:

In early September, my 18-year-old brother was tragically shot in the Lowcountry region of South Carolina. The incident turned our entire world upside down in a matter of seconds. He was airlifted to a trauma hospital in Savannah, Georgia, where he underwent several emergency surgeries and spent weeks fighting for his life. During that time, my family and I were terrified, exhausted, and unsure of how we were going to manage being so far from home. We didn’t know where we would stay or how we would afford to be near him through his recovery. That’s when the Ronald McDonald House Charities stepped in and gave us something we desperately needed—comfort, stability, and hope.
The staff at the Ronald McDonald House in Savannah welcomed my mom and me with open arms during the darkest period of our lives. They gave us a warm bed to sleep in, a safe place to rest, and most importantly, a sense of community and compassion that we will never forget. Every night, volunteers provided free, home-cooked dinners, and it meant the world to us. After spending long, emotional days by my brother’s hospital bed, coming “home” to a hot meal and friendly faces was a reminder that we weren’t alone in our pain. The kindness we received helped us find strength we didn’t know we had.
I want to give special thanks to Lizzy from the Ronald McDonald House for everything she did for our family. Lizzy and the staff at the House who went above and beyond to make sure we were cared for—always checking in, offering encouragement, and making us feel like family. Her compassion and dedication truly touched our hearts. When my brother was transferred to another city hospital in late October, it was incredibly difficult to say goodbye to the place and the people who had supported us through so much.
The Ronald McDonald House isn’t just a place to stay—it’s a lifeline for families like ours who are facing unimaginable hardship. Their generosity and love gave us peace during chaos, and we will forever be grateful for the comfort and care they provided when we needed it most.
