A convenience store clerk has been fired from his job after he pulled out a gun to stop a hatchet-wielding man who tried to rob him. Police are looking for the suspect, who stormed into Plaid Pantry in Oak Grove, Oregon last month and pulled out a hatchet.
When the employee behind the counter responded by pulling out a handgun, the would-be robber put the hatchet down and apologized. He put his hands up and got down on his knees while the clerk called 911. The suspect fled the store before authorities arrived.
The president of Plaid Pantry told KOIN 6 News that there is a zero-tolerance policy for guns at all the stores and that employees are trained to de-escalate dangerous situations.
