Here's the latest from Effingham County!

EEMA has been monitoring the movement of Dorian, which is a Category 2 hurricane. We have

activated our Emergency Operations Center to Level 1 for storm preparation and response.

 We are under a Tropical Storm Warning: This means tropical storm conditions are

possible in the area within the next 24 hours.

 Peak wind forecast 35-45mph, gusts up to 60mph; 3-6 inches of rain; conditions are

favorable for tornadoes.

 Secure any loose items in your yard and keep trash cans away from the road.

 If you feel secure in your home, we would encourage everyone to stay off of the roads.

Additional emergency units have been called in for coverage; a cautionary step for anticipated

needs due to the impacts from Hurricane Dorian.

The EOC is hosting 2 members of the Army National Guard Liaison Group, which will assist in

any resource requests from the county, beyond local or state capabilities.
