A Missouri foster mother is under investigation for allegedly trading her foster child for an exotic monkey. According to Lincoln County Prosecutor Mike Wood, Brenda Ruth Deutsch, aged 70, faces three felony charges of neglect, child abuse, and child endangerment. These charges stem from initial reports of a missing child, who was later found in Texas.

Prosecutor Wood revealed that a witness reported being asked to transport the child to Texas and return with a monkey in exchange. The authorities are currently verifying the credibility of these claims. Between September 2022 and January, Deutsch allegedly physically abused the teenager, reportedly using a paddle, wooden trim, shoes, and her hand. The abuse reportedly resulted in injuries, including facial bleeding.

Court documents indicate that the teenager was sent to live in unsanitary conditions in Texas without adequate supervision. During her stay, the teen was reportedly left alone to care for exotic animals. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Child Protective Services in Texas are collaborating on the investigation.

Prosecutor Wood stated that the investigation into Deutsch's actions could be lengthy, as it aims to address over a decade of alleged abuse. He encouraged anyone with information to come forward. Deutsch's bond is set at $250,000, and more charges may follow as the investigation continues.
