Shooting In Suburban Neighborhood Leaves 3 Dead, 3 Injured

A shooting in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, on Tuesday evening (April 8) resulted in the deaths of three people and injuries to three others. The incident occurred during an illegal gun sale and robbery in the Olde Greenwich Circle area. Authorities have taken four suspects into custody, including two 16-year-olds, a 17-year-old, and an 18-year-old.

The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to public safety. The suspects face charges of malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, unlawful assembly. Three of the suspects are being held without bail, while one 16-year-old suspect, who suffered a gunshot wound, is receiving treatment at a hospital.

The victims who lost their lives were two 18-year-old men and a 20-year-old man. The injured individuals were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The sheriff’s office expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the Fredericksburg Police Department and the Virginia State Police during the investigation.

In response to the tragedy, Fredericksburg City Public Schools announced a two-hour delay for Wednesday (April 9) to allow school staff to prepare to support students during this difficult time. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
