Just how ironic is it that one of the biggest arguments for having a public school system in America was to make sure that the greatness of America was being taught along with the Biblical principles the country was founded on. But thanks to the Communists and so-called "Progressives"--which is a term the Communists adopted to cloak their infiltration--have made it just the opposite. I was going to high school when God was expelled by the Extreme Court and look how things have deteriorated since God was shown the door. I grew up in the 50s and 60s and there was not such thing as a school shooting. Teachers ruled the roost. When a teacher left the classroom unattended for a few minutes and we started getting rowdy all that was necessary to restore order was for our teacher to come back or another teacher from next door or across the hall to step in and, in the blink of an eye, you could hear a pin drop. Discipline problems were almost nil. We read a passage from the Holy Bible each morning in homeroom and pledged allegiance to the flag. No one complained, the American Communist Lovers Union (ACLU) didn't bother us at the time, the Jewish kids didn't get their feelings hurt over being wished a "Merry Christmas" or complain about Christmas trees, parties, the like. No one was offended by the flag or the Bible or God--then. But with God out of the way thanks to the activist court, things in our public schools (and probably some private ones too) American values, Christian/Jewish values began to drop like a safe in freefall.
We used to have regular fire drills and today we have active-shooter drills. All religious symbols--except the politically-correct Muslim symbols and practices--are forbidden. Wearing a t-shirt with some religious connotation will get you sent to the office or even expelled in some places. It's no longer "Christmas break" it's "Winter break" and if they bother to put up a tree at all it's a "Holiday Bush" or some such nonsense. It's even gotten so bad in some schools if you were to wear red and green colors during Christmas season you could be expelled. Yes, erasing God and the Bible from our public schools sure has improved things, huh? Some school districts have had the unmitigated gall to start teaching the Bible as literature. But you can bet that our friends at the ACLU will be hoping on that before long. We'll get the tired old argument that this is a "sneaky" way or reintroducing religion back into public schools. They sure are quick to recognize their own tactics! And to go along with getting rid of religion (sans Muslim stuff) is to get rid of our history. They do it in a very clever way--revising it and/or just making it up.
Newsflash: NO COUNTRY IS PERFECT! Notify the media! We need to know our history, warts and all. But the way it's now being taught is pathetic and, quite frankly, criminal. The Founding Fathers are known only now as "old white men who owned slaves." For years though the slave issue was minimalized they were teaching that these were not really men of God only Deists. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Founders--who any one of them had more intelligence and integrity in their little finger than anyone in Congress now--were crystal clear that if God wasn't the foundation of our government and society then the government itself would become God. That's why they said we had certain unalienable rights meaning rights given to us by GOD and CANNOT be taken away by man or any government. But when the government is the god rights can be changed or taken away in a whim. The Founders knew this because most countries in those days were ruled by kings and queens and potentates. History, just from our mother-country England is a prime example, when they had a good king like Richard (the Lionhearted) things went well, but when Richard was killed during the Crusades his brother John became king. And he was SO bad that not only did the people rebel and Magna Carta was born. King John was forced to sign it in 1215--and there has not be a King named "John" ever since! If my math is correct--and it is--that 804 years with no King John II or any other number. Now that's bad! Our Founding Fathers knew the dire consequences when the government was god.
Now the issue is the Founding Fathers owned slaves. So what are the Communists/Progressives doing? In Charlottesville, Virginia these cretins have decided that they won't celebrate their native Thomas Jefferson's birthday anymore. The author of the Declaration of Independence is being dissed by his own hometown by applying today's morals and mores to the past. So I suppose we'll have to take his picture off the $2 bill and close the University of Virginia since he founded that too. Most of the Founders--including Jefferson, if they had slaves, inherited them and it was a necessary evil of the day otherwise the crops and other chores would not get done. And none of them that I could find thought slavery was a good policy and wrote the most beautiful document known to man that would allow for them to become free at some future date. Nor did any of them mistreat those slaves that I can find. While I realize that doesn't justify the practice it flies in the face of those who claim they were abused and beaten. They also thought the practice abhorrent.
Now a public school in San Francisco, George Washington High School, is about to commit another crime against humanity by destroying art. Do what??? DESTROY ART! That's right...all these commie-pinkos who have told us for years that art was sacred and anyone who drew or photographed something that we flesh-and-blood creeps found offensive should just suck it up. Art was never to be questioned nor destroyed. Those of us offended by the Maplethorpe exhibit years ago where this so-called "artist" took a picture of a crucifix immersed in a glass of urine and when we Christians and others said we were offended and should be removed we were told that was "art" and we had to appreciate his First Amendment rights and we could just stick it where the sun don't shine. The San Francisco Board of Education has voted to spend $600,000 to paint over a mural that's been at the school since 1930 with no one, until recently, anyone being offended. Six-hundred grand of money that could be much better spent on teacher bonuses (if they have any deserving ones) or feed hungry children or even clean up some of the human waste off the city's streets that have been turned over the the homeless vagrants.
So why are they covering the mural--why is the ban suddenly been lifted on destroying art in this case? Well it's because they commie-pinkos are offended--that's what they're telling themselves and it's the product of pubic education system that has revised history. Kids today can't name even one right granted in the First Amendment, know what the Bill of Rights is, read, studied or understand the Constitution or that we have three branches of government. Even the smartest bartender in the world, AOC, said the three branches of government are the Executive, the House and the Senate. If you don't know what's wrong with that answer, file suit against your American History teacher. This mural does show warts and all with George Washington's slaves shown and a dead indian--er--Native American. All of a sudden people are offended because they've been TOLD to be offended. Case-in-point, we now refer to American Indians as "Native Americans" because they were "offended" by the term "Indian." But when polled they preferred to be called "Indians" by about a 70% majority. No matter, if a Progressive says it, it must be so. We had to put up with some "snowflake" at the high school weeping and whaling and gnashing her teeth about how she was so upset she had to go to school and see that mural EVERY DAY! Pass the violin! Once upon a time that mural was used as a teaching tool showing the history of the Father of Our Country. But the Progressives are "offended" by what is a magnificent piece of art that, until they came along, didn't offend anybody for almost 90 years.
So are any Americans left in San Francisco who, like the outraged Americans in Minnesota who went to their city council when they said they wouldn't say the Pledge of Allegiance anymore protested and got them to back down, who'll go to the school, stand in front of the mural and say "you'll paint over this over MY dead body?" One can only hope just as I keep hoping we'll start teaching the real history again. What's also ironic is that during the Bicentennial in 1975 the San Francisco Chronicle published an article on the "new history" where the American heroes had been expunged. Nothing about George Washington, Nathan Hale, Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin by only making passing references to them. Just as an aside, ask your kids if they have any idea who Benjamin Rush was. Do you know? He was a very important Founder. I hope this story has a happy ending but knowing San Francisco I seriously have my doubts.
