RICHMOND HILL, Ga. (WTOC) - Richmond Hill Police say they arrested a man for aggravated assault and murder early Friday morning.

Officers say they arrested Richard Dodson without incident near his home in the Waterford Subdivision. They say the homicide happened Thursday night in the city limits but did not specify where.

We do know that the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office assisted Richmond Hill Police with the arrest.

It was a scary morning for residents in Richmond Hill at Waterford Landing. They woke up to a heavy police presence.

“I walked outside at around 7 a.m. and I was watering my plants and I look to my left and I see just like seven police cars, a big SWAT truck and you know I said like this doesn’t look right,” said neighbor Bea Barnhart.

Neighbors say they had no idea what was happening when police came to Egrets Way early Friday morning. For this typically quite neighborhood, the news shook those living nearby.

“I guess I don’t feel safe you know cause I always figured this neighborhood was like nothing bad could ever happen.”

This is an ongoing investigation.
