School safety came up yesterday during the quarterly education updates at the Glynn County Development Authority meeting. Authority members had questions about tracking expelled students. School Superintendent Dr. Virgil Cole said it had not been determined if the police or the school system should try to track these students. He did say if students are exhibiting troubling behavior, the school police will talk with parents. Dr. Pete Snell, of Coastal Pines Technical College, said the tech school did manual follow ups on these students and waited for them to pop up elsewhere. College of Coastal Georgia president Dr. Meg Amstutz said that the bigger issue was behavior. She said students with behavior problems are monitored and talked to to avoid them reaching the point of extreme action.
