2024 Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run welcomes old-timers, newcomers

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - The 33rd annual Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run brought thousands to downtown Savannah on a sunny, but chilly Saturday morning.

Said to be one of the toughest runs in the South, the race drew in old-timers and newcomers alike.

Earl Humes, a 72-year-old running the 5K, said he's been participating in the Bridge Run for 30 years.

"I do it because I love running on the bridge. It's good inspiration, it's good therapy for me," he said.

I'm still moving pretty good," he added.

A runner dressed as Frozone from "The Incredibles" said he was taking on the challenging Double Pump for the first time.

"I'm built for this, I'm ready for it," he said.

The Double Pump is a whopping three-trip run over the Talmadge Bridge.

"Why not do the hardest thing?" Frozone said.

Organizers said in total, 5,000 runners took part in the race hailing from nine different states and four countries.
