SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The holiday season can be a tough time when you're struggling, but some Savannah shelters are working to provide Thanksgiving meals if you need one.
Here are the shelter's providing meals:
Old Savannah City Mission
2414 Bull St, Savannah, Ga.
Saturday Nov. 23 and Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28 starting at 10 a.m.
Old Savannah City Mission's Great Day of Thanksgiving is one of their largest events. They said that they expect to serve around 600 people on Saturday and Thanksgiving Day. We are preparing for one of our largest events of the year.
They also are asking for help from those who can volunteer or donate. They ask for canned goods, turkeys, rolls, desserts, monetary donations and warm clothing.
Savannah Feed the Hungry
John S Delaware Center at 1815 Lincoln St, Savannah, Ga.
Tuesday Nov. 26 starting at 4 p.m.
Savannah Feed the Hungry will be holding their 16th annual Hope on a Plate Thanksgiving dinner two days before Thanksgiving. They will have hot meals, farmers market, free turkeys, an empowerment zone and live music.
Union Mission
120 Fahm St, Savannah, Ga.
Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Union Mission will be giving away boxed to-go meals for anyone in need the day prior to Thanksgiving. Their free clothing closet will also be open to visit.
Catherine Jones Ministries
2020 Bull St at 37th St
Thursday Nov. 28 from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.
Catherine Jones Ministries Inc. will host their annual Thanksgiving Day Feeding for the Homeless.
